Porcellio leavis "Milk Back"
PorcellioĀ laevisĀ "MilkĀ Back" are a very cool laevis to work with. We do not recommend adding laevis into enclosuresĀ with soft-bodied, small, or young animals. They are native to North Africa, but also Europe. These are prized for their marbled appearance. These isopods have a hard, calcified body.Ā Our isopods are fed Iso-licious Isopod Food 1-2x a week, including our new wet mixes, supplemented with potatoes, squash, carrots, our leaf powder, and a cuttlebone. These isopods enjoy warm temperatures and an occasional misting, but do not do as well in a wet environment. We allow space for a extensiveĀ moisture gradient, starting with one side of the enclosure havingĀ moist NZ sphagnum moss, the middle beingĀ mostly dry and covered with leaf litter and bark, and onto the oppositeĀ side being bone dry andĀ covered only with leaf litter. This provides the neededĀ space for Isopods to osmoregulate to remain in homeostasis. These are semi-arid species and require ventilation for optimal health.
